We are in our last few weeks in France.  Overall, we are very happy with this country and our place in Nice.  It’s well into October but the sun is shining bright, the birds are singing in the orange tree outside, and the air is of the same clarity that inspired many artists. We finally

Nice

We are in Nice now, settling in.  Loving the house – it has great views from each tall window and a huge terrace with flowers and herbs.  Every morning we walk to the market and boulangerie to get fresh produce and delicious bread.   The French food is gorgeous and fully deserves its reputation.

Paris

Paris was fantastic. We’ve heard and read so much about it, but it exceeded all of our expectations. It is visually stunning, its people are cool and sophisticated, and the food is sublime. We especially loved its parks – ideal for families with wild toddlers. We’ve only had a few days there and we did

Highlights so far…

We have not left the US yet but our journey already had some awesome moments: watching Now You See Me in the small theatre in Berkeley and squealing with joy; boys making ugly cupcakes and decorating them with blue sprinkles; our friends visiting from Oregon and eating dinner with them in the backyard; mama raccoon

Daily schedule

Since it’s so easy to lose track of time when on sabbatical and the baby is wearing us out, we came up with a daily schedule. With slight variations, it looks like this: 8:00 a.m. – wake up 8:00 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. breakfast 8:45 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. daddy is playing with the baby,

First ten days
